Inception Of Words

Waking Life

I just saw this movie “Waking Life” which is an excellent movie, by the way, and in it I found this particular part, where they speak about the language and words, quite intriguing. To quote Waking Life:

“It’s always our decision, who we are. Creation seems to come out of imperfection. It seems to come out of a striving and a frustration. And this is where I think language came from… I mean, it came from our desire to transcend our isolation… and have some sort of connection with one another.”

And I find it so true! I mean, it was the very need to fulfil man’s loneliness, his emptiness that he created language. And I also love to imagine the first guy to speak just blabbering stuff and using sign language. I mean, I always picture a caveman just going bonkers with his club and trying to tell the caveman in front of him to stop screwing with his wife!

Good Night | Good Morning – A Review

Good Night | Good Morning

Good Night | Good Morning

Remember “Making Conversation”? I expressed my views that conversations with strangers may turn out to be the best conversation a person may have! And well, Hollywood has no dearth of movies to prove my point, but now there’s an Indian film and by Indian, I do NOT mean Bollywood.

No, sir! The movie I’m talking about gives the Bollywood masala flicks a slap on the face (And I’m being modest here).  This film transcends the highly (read unbelievable let alone plausible) action packed, punch dialogue filled stuff that Indian films has to offer.

Agreed, there have been films like Kahaani, The Girl in the Yellow Boots (in recent times) and Mr. and Mrs.Iyer, and a very few more (in the not-so-recent  times), but this film has been the most conversation oriented film so far, according to me.

And after building up so much about it, the film I’m talking about is “Good Night | Good Morning” by Sudhish Kamath, who I must say has done a wonderful job. It is an independent film, that runs on the lines of “Before Sunrise” (God! I’ve to see that again!), “Before Sunset”, “The Sunset Limited”, “A Lot Like Love”, Woody Allen movies and many more.

Cujo!!!

Just watched Cujo!! Yes, Cujo, the one they talk about in F.R.I.E.N.D.S, the movie adaptation of the Stephen King book “Cujo”. It was amazing! I watched it all by myself. It’s 2:00 am and I watched Cujo, all by myself. Consider it boasting, call me immodest but I did it!

One of the scariest movies I’ve seen. Well I started the movie, expecting so much, because I’ve watched and read “The Shining” by Stephen King himself. So I, kind of,  knew the level of fear and horror the movie was going to instill in me.

Me and my friend, both have been wanting to see this movie ever since we first heard so much fuss about it on FRIENDS. And that is exactly how I came to watch this movie.

Requiem For A Dream – A Review

Requiem For A Dream

Requiem for a dream

This dark and offbeat movie, directed by Darren Aronofsky, starring Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, Marlon Wayans, says the story of four individuals – each consumed by the addiction of a different drug. I was not a fan of director Darren Aronofsky’s debut film “Pi,” but with this movie he proves to be a filmmaker of unlimited vision and style.
